Grad School Blues

It’s been a while since I’ve take a peek on my thesis.  It’s not an impasse, but rather a... repose, maybe..?  But it still is irresponsible of me to shift my focus on other things, when my thesis is halfway through.  So now I'm trying to spark the fire and keep it burning, hard.

Rather lately many people asked me on how ‘easy’ grad school is.  So to those whom I’ve shrugged or ignore, here comes my answer:

Oh then to those who asked me when I will start my own family:

Well, after all this is how I spend most of my day, after all.  So yea... labour is taking more than it supposed to...

Oh yea.  Then there's this.

I am literally crying for my mum right now.  In desperation.  For no apparent reason, really.

William’s Corner Kelana Jaya

This evening both N.Aida.Z and I went to Paradigm Mall to buy wedding gifts for our mutual friend.  After that, I got hungry and started looking at  pictures of chocolate cake pops (sorry Aida, didn’t mean to).  So we decided to go to William’s Corner Kelana Jaya.

This restaurant is also called ‘mamak’ (according to my Instagram) due to its open air system and most tables are located outside the buildings.  There is no menu prepared, but they do have it handwritten on the blackboard inside at the kitchen.  So, the rumour has it that they served big portion of food.  In the beginning we both want to share a meal and a drink, but the waiter convinced both of us that the famous seafood fried rice is not so huge, that it may not be enough for two person.  Since this is our first time here, we listened to him.  So we both ordered another plate of pasta arrabiata.

The service is fast, which is good, but lordy lordy the food is HUGE!!!  First to come is the soda herbs.  It looks pretty with sour plum, lemongrass, lemon, mint, and longan.  For me it’s an acquired taste and a little too sweet for our liking.

I've said it before and I'm gonna say it again.  This is huge!  Actually we can't finish this, unfortunately...  But i do bring it home for my brother

When the infamous fried rice is served we both giggle because of the size.  It is for two person.  But hey, if one is really hungry and/or in need for carbo load, yeah, maybe they can finish it all by themselves.  But not for us regular folks, we both shared the fried rice.  It is served with soft-shell crab with a pile of seafood-packed rice.  We managed to finish the fried rice.

Mountain of rice

Then the pasta came.  Once again, we both can only express our feelings by giggling.  It is ENORMOUS.  I think three people can share the meal.  The biggest plate of pasta I’ve ever eaten.  We both are grateful that I did not choose creamy carbonara or alfredo, which will be far more difficult to finish.  But then the arrabiata sauce is very nice (with hidden bird’s eye chilli, which makes it extra hot, just the way I like it) with slices of grilled lamb, lots of meatballs, and a great deal of beef pepperoni.  I also liked the fact that the meatball is homemade with cheese in the middle.  It suited our palate and looked tasty that two other people asked what we ordered.

The ever so generous pasta dish

Amazingly, we finished the pasta.  But, it took us almost two hours to finish everything in one sitting.  But, we’re both happy in the end and that is all that matters.  Even so, we promised each other that we’ll never do this again, that we will SHARE our food at William’s Corner.

Yet Another New Year Resolution

New Year, new resolution... Oh well, I'm keeping it simple this year; to actually finish my thesis, to save money for a nice vacation with my best friends, be nicer to people, to say 'I love you' more often to my family, and to read more books.

Speaking about reading more books, I was thinking of making a reading list.  The list could be anything, like the same author, or time travel, sleuthing, magic, took place in France... and the list goes on.  Each list should contain at least 5 books, no compromise or skipping between lists.  I've started reading Doctor Sleep, and I should finish by tonight.  Now it is time to categorize this book.  I was thinking to list it as sequel, but it is too broad.  Maybe immortal or ESP.  I need to finish this book first, but I am pretty excited about this book lists.  I never done this before, so I am committed (for the rest of the year I hope) to stay on course.  We’ll see.
